John McCain Will Kill Our Children

I watched the Rick Warren Interviews with interest. While the press is saying that McCain won with his quick and confident answers, I disagree. McCain's shoot from the hip style and overconfident self-righteousness is a problem. As one of the commentators of this article suggests, McCain is dangerous and will kill our children. His eagerness to "defeat" evil, track down Osama Bin Laden and do something to put Russia in its place should be an alarm bell for all Americans. John McCain is delusional about the power of the US and is living in the past. He mentioned in the interview about how the US can use the "Bully Pulpit" still to persuade internationals to go along with our will. He does not seem to realize how much the bluster and bravado of the Bush years have weakened our country and how we need more diplomacy to rebuild our friendships and alliances. McCain is crazy and cocky and will kill our children. He shoots from the hip and will fight every war he determines we need to fight to meet his own ego needs. He proved that in his Rick Warren interview where he also showed that he does not put God first or even country first as he says he does. John McCain puts John McCain first.

McCain: Straight Talking Trashman

John McCain thinks one should have a sense of humor about the trash that is being spewed in Corsi's book. I don't think McCain thought it humorous when Rove created a "push poll" against him where South Carolina voters were asked "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?"

And what about those testy Vietnam Verterans against John McCain? They question his honesty, integrity and values. But in their case they don't make up stories. They hold John McCain accountable for actual events he participated in during his lifetime. Situations that reveal his weakness of character, lack of committment, shallowness and question his ability to remain calm in a crisis:

"Some of McCain’s acquaintances .... portray the politician as a self-centred womaniser who effectively abandoned his crippled wife to ‘play the field’. They accuse him of finally settling on Cindy, a former rodeo beauty queen, for financial reasons." McCain's first wife says their marriage ended "because John McCain didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25".
"Anyone who has had an adversarial relationship with John McCain will tell you that there are few with less self-control than the senator from Arizona. Many have questioned his ability to maintain a clear head in a time of crisis. For those of us who have seen these sparks of insanity from McCain, we know all too well that what lies beneath is something dark, ominous and certainly not presidential."
John McCain snubbed the Vietnamese man who saved his life. The rescuer, Mai Van On, died feeling as if John McCain had abandoned him.

The Veterans have been waiting a long time for John McCain to respond to their questions about his character. He has continued to ignore them, possibly because the allegations are true and he has no defense. Barack Obama, on the other hand, is facing his critics head on and disputing all the false claims against him on his website.

McCain Manipulates the Media

John McCain has successfully manipulated the media into helping him attack Barack Obama. The McCain campaign was insanely jealous of all the favorable media attention that Barack received when he went on his overseas tour. With Barack looking quite presidential they knew they were in trouble. When their complaints about the media attention did not work and their "Obama Love" video fell flat they went back to the drawing board and and asked themselves "What would Karl Rove do?" The answer they came up with: "Use Barack's positives against them, figure out a way to turn this enormous media attention, his presidential profiling and his incredible popularity, into negatives." Picture them all around the table brainstorming and whiteboarding ways to tear Barack down. Then, I imagine, someone had a brilliant idea. "Let's get back at the media while we're doing it to Barack by using them to help us."

From that point on they were on a roll. They just needed the perfect bait to make sure that the press picked up on this "news". And, viola...what better bait than Britany and Paris. Someone pointed out that the press would surely pick up anything associated with Paris or Britany and the gullible public would likely eat it up too. So, the team decided to keep going with their "Barack is a celebrity" campaign and threw in Britany and Paris for good measure...to make sure the press ate it up. And, eat it up they did. Suddenly all the positive press about Barack's overseas visit....gone....and replaced with the negative "celeb" message that McCain and camp wanted out.

Meanwhile back a the McCain camp, they are sitting back proudly, licking their chops and watching their media manipulation take effect...saying nothing, spending nothing---no news, no press releases no new videos. They are calculating the ROI of their success of using Paris and Britany as media bait while plotting their next media manipulation move. But, judging by how the public is eating it up too, I imagine that they have now concluded that not only can the media be manipulated, but the "public is a patsy to be played". So, the McCain maniuplators will without a doubt come back with more of the same. We as a Barack supporters should just fasten our seat belts it is going to be a bumpy ride....but, we will survive this turbulence, arrive safely and the landing will be relatively smooth. Hope and change will prevail...keep the faith.

Barack Obama Is a Celebrity...just like JFK, RFK, MLK...Ronald Reagan?

Thank you John McCain for finally acknowledging Barack's celebrity status. Unfortunately, as you have done quite often recently, you got things a little confused and actually think that Barack's celebrity status is a bad thing. Also, your momentary mental lapse has caused you to compare him to the wrong kinds of celebrities. Seems like you could use a little help, so I thought I 'd help you out by bringing forward a few celebrities that are better comparisons.

First there is John F. Kennedy. Barack's speech in Berlin has been widely favorably acclaimed and is often compared to the following JFK famous speech in Berlin:

Next there is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Barack's vision for change, eloquence and oratorical style has often been compared to this celebrity who actually did change the world through his leadership. Below is an excerpt from Dr. King's famous "I have a Dream" speech which was delivered to throngs of people, said to be in the hundreds of thousands, similar to the crowds that Barack Obama draws when he speaks.

Next up is Bobby Kennedy a world famous celebrity who Barack is so often compared to that there are numerous youtube videos made starring the two. They are similar to this one:

And finally, Barack's "celebrity" status is shared by another, Mr. McCain. This person is very near and dear to you and their celebrity status is well known. In fact, they started their career as an acto (more closely related to Britney and Paris than Barack) and they used that celebrity status to gain the highest office in the land. Like John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama, this person gave a famous speech in Berlin. I think you know who I'm talking about. Here is a video of famous Republican celebrity Ronald Reagan speaking eloquently in West Berlin:

Seen enough? Hopefully your confusion has cleared up and you no longer think that celebrity is a bad thing for someone aspiring to be our next president. Please let me know if there is something more I can do to help you out.

Barack VP Hagel vs Bayh

What if it came down to Hagel or Bayh for Barack's running mate. Who would you choose?

According to a June 20th news report Senator Chuck Hagel says he would "consider" the VP offer if it comes. Hagel is a very interesting prospect.

He served as a Vietnam Army seargant and earned 2 purple hearts (nice comeback to McCain's military and hostage experience)
He has been critical of Bush's Iraq troop surge decision and of Bush's Iraq policy in general (Lockstep with Obama here)
He has foreign policy experience and is on the Senate Foreign relations committee (Would bolster Barack where he is often accused of being weak)
He is a Republican (would add credence to Barack's message of unification and could likely appeal to Reagan democrats, those on the fence and maybe even stubborn Hillary fans who are threatening to vote for McCain.)
Senator Hagel is traveling with Barack on his recent overseas tour and is likely a close advisor to Barack on all things related to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Senator Hagel sounds like he could be a VERY strong candidate for Barack's running mate.

But, wait....there is also Senator Evan Bayh...The FIX as the Washington Post likes to call him. The post article makes a great case for Senator Bayh. According to them:

This election is all about Indiana where the race is close for Barack. And, Indiana is all about Bayh.
Bayh is a credible messenger to the Rust Belt and could be a strong attraction for Reagan democrats as well as for Hillcats and other reluctant Hillary supporters
Because of Bayh's Indiana connections and powerful family, not only can he bring in Indiana, but The Post projects that he would have strong influence to suck in Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and maybe even Kentucky
Bayh bridges the gap between a "fresh face and an elder statesman"
Bayh has experience and has proven to perform well in the past
and, finally...Bayh is kind of boring...which would be a welcome change from Barack's rock star popularity and. what some see as "sickening charisma and ego"

Hmmmm sounds like Bayh could also be a VERY strong choice for Barack.

Senator Evan Bayh I choose you! I think that Barack's trip overseas served as a good trial balloon to see just how much Americans value international and foreign relations. The fact that the trip went well, but Barack did not see a soar in the polls and, infact, may have lost ground to McCain in some states, suggests to me that since foreign relations experience, or lack there of, does not butter the bread, bring home the bacon or put fuel in the gas tank, Americans could care less about it in our current state of a Bush infused domestic meltdown. Furthermore, Barack's rock star reception overseas and Iraq leadership's near endorsement of him, have given us comfort that Barack does not have a problem with foreign relations, international credibility, acceptance or influence. So, having a number two who is strong on foreign policy is not such a pressing need.

With the clear need for Barack to redouble his focus on domestic issues, fortify his electabiliy here at home by closing credibility gaps, addressing the subliminal racism that continues to dog him and Michelle, get those Hillcats on board and secure Indiana and the rest of the rust belt, Barack needs Bayh more than he needs Hagel...so I agree with the Washington Post. Bayh is the man for the job!

Senator Hagel we need you on the team too, so stay tuned.

Bush a terrorist?

Vanity Fair magazine cleverly rips off of the New Yorker controversial Obama cover with a cover of its on syphoning off some of the media hype that the New Yorker has gotten. But, did Vanity Fair realize that by substituting Osama Bin Laden's fireplace caricature with George W. Bush's they are pretty much inferring that the perception of "Dubya" is akin to that of terrorist Osama Bin Laden? Where is the right wing outrage that was laid on Jeremiah Wright for comments he made inferring similarly about America's actions abroad? I just Googled and could find none of it. No outrage, anger, negative blog posts, nada. In fact, what I did find is that it is so acceptable to associate the Bush Administration with terrorism that National Review Magazine created a similar cover, only instead of associating Bush with Bin Laden they associate Cheney with Osama Bin Laden. What should we make out of this? Should Barack and Michelle feel vindicated for the New Yorker cover or should we all be concerned about the perception that the press can create in general?

New Yorker Depicts Reality of Black in America

The disparaging New Yorker cover of Michelle and Barack gives great insight into what it means to be Black in America. Even before you watch the CNN special next week you can get a real sense of what we have to go through on a day to day basis in this country. After jumping through hoops, getting over the various hurdles, attaining all the credentials in the world and spending a lifetime proving ourselves; we still get dissed! Take note of this New Yorker picture of utter disrespect. Never in my life have I seen this done to any white person who could be the next US President and First Lady of the USA. Never in my life have I seen anything this disgraceful done to white presidents or prospective presidents, even when they have done something despicable and worthy of condemnation.

A quote from this blog says it best:

If artist Barry Blitt had some real cojones, he would have drawn the same cover but shown it as a gigantic word bubble coming out of John McCain's mouth — implying, you see, that this is how McCain wants the world to view Obama. But he didn't. Because that would have been unfair. And McCain would have complained about it. And for some reason, the risk that a failed satire would unfairly defame McCain is somehow seen as worse than the risk that a failed satire would unfairly defame Obama.

"...for some reason the risk of defaming McCain was worse than the risk of defaming Obama"...its all part of the price the Obamas continue to pay for being Black in America.

Jesse Jackson: Jealous and Jonesing

Jesse Jackson's comments about castrating Barack is manifested in his jealousy of what Barack has accomplished in such a short time (vs himself ) and is a "withdrawal symptom" as he is "jonesing" from his own lack of attention and the reality that his star is dimming. This unique combination of jealousy and jonesing leads Jesse to say some really stupid things. Just as a crack addict can't control the urge to steal from loved ones to feed his habit, even if it hurts, Jesse can't control the urge to steal from Barack even though it hurts him and other blacks in the long run.

After all the years of hard work and time that Jesse put into "keeping hope alive" one would think that this would be the proudest moment of his life and that he would take great pride in the fact that Barack can stand on his shoulders and achieve the dream that so often alluded him. This is surely a time when Jesse should be "peacock proud and honeymoon happy" and over the moon joyful about what Barack has achieved, especially given the sacrifices he himself has made. But instead of being puffed up with pride and wanting to give Barack a shot of testosterone to keep him going, Jesse is wanting to "cut his nuts out", "take the winds out of his sails", "beat him down", "put him in his place", "take him down a few notches", "knock his block off'"...etc. etc. etc. Jesse Jackson is literally interested in destroying the very dream that many civil rights leaders, including himself, have fought so long and hard for.

Jesse Jackson is also acting like a child. I could not believe that he actually said of Barack's actions that "he is acting white". I have not heard that phrase since 7th grade when a boy from "the hood" said that to me for answering a question correctly in class. How stupid is this? How childish is this? VERY. Jesse, I do wish you would consider what kind of message you are sending black children who suffer every day under peer pressure to "dumb down" themselves "act cool" and "be "G" in order to "act black". This is stupid, stupid, stupid and is the complete wrong message and example to set for our young people. How could you be so ego-centric and shortsighted and consumed with your own power status that you are not embracing the positive message that Barack is bringing to black boys and girls about the power that they have within themselves to make a difference in their lives, other lives and the world? Why are you trying to castrate all the black boys that need the hope, need the confidence and need the personal example that Barack is trying to set for them? These young people need someone to look up to that can give them confidence that they have a future beyond the drugs, beyond the gangs and beyond the prisons! They need to know that being smart and being a good parent and working hard and having a dream and believing in your dream and seeing that you can make a difference is NOT "acting white, but acting right.

Jesse now is your time to either "Follow" Barack or "Get Out of The Way. You had your time to lead and during that time, the plight of the black male continued to deteriorate. Perhaps that is what you are so concerned about? Do you worry that you had your chance and you blew it? Do you worry that Barack is going to make you look bad by setting a better example through his life choices and personal convictions than you did? Are you feeling guilty and looking for a do over? Are you using black people by saying that Barack is talking down to us when you really feel that he is talking down to you? The intensity of your castration statement certainly sounds extremely personal. Perhaps you are recalling your extramarital affair where you fathered a child adding one more single mother and black child without a father in the home? At the time you acknowledged what a problem this was:

"I was born of these circumstances," said Jackson, himself born out of wedlock, "and I know the importance of growing up in a nurturing, supportive and protected environment so I am determined to give my daughter and her mother the privacy they both deserve."

acknowledged the pain it caused your wife and kids:

In his statement, Jackson says his wife, Jackie, and their children "have been made aware of the child and it has been an extremely painful, trying and difficult time for them."

and asked that we forgive you:

"This is no time for evasions, denials or alibis," Jackson's statement said. "No doubt, many close friends and supporters will be disappointed in me. I ask for their forgiveness, understanding and prayers."

And we forgave you. But Jesse, we cannot forgive you for your latest comments where you are talking about wanting to kill hope and the future for our young people in such a violent and crude way. Your jealousy and jonesing has gone too far and while your star might have been dimming before, at least you could have had a graceful departure having been forgiven of your sins of the past. But now you have opened a fresh wound that is sure to tarnish your legacy and most assuredly will keep you from getting more of that attention you so desperately crave. Time for you to check into rehab. and check out of the limelight.

Whitey and The Almighty

About this "whitey" tape business. I'll bet this is another one of those "cultural disconnects"....you know like that comment calling a fist bump a "terrorist fist jab" followed by; "people call it all sorts of things". I'll just bet this is one of those situations where the worship style and the words that go with it was simply misunderstood by the unaccustomed ear.

Many black churches have a unique and "interactive" worship style where the speaker, preacher or minister engages the congregation in a "rhythmic" call and response manner. (Lord knows some of us like our rhythm). This "rhythmic" engagement can take the form of singing, loud talking, rhyming, physically moving around--including jumping, swaying or even standing up on chairs to bring the point home. At times to press the point the speaker might repeat a word or phrase over and over again to really get the congregation into the rhythm. One of the preachers most famous for this is Dr. Rudolph McKissick. He is known to start talking about "how good God is and how he will make a way out of no way". Rev. McKissick often ends by repeating the phrase; "won't he, won't he, won't he, won't he" which comes out of his mouth as "woanee, woanee, woanee, woanee, woanee" in a very melodic and rhythmic way that gets the congregation up on their feet clapping shouting, swaying and waving in agreement as everyone recalls all of the trials and tribulations the Lord has truly delivered each of us from. The congregation at Trinity has had the privilege of hearing Dr. McKissick several times and always respond with active excitement and jubilation to the "won't he chorus" of the sermon. So, anyone who got up and spoke and said anything similar would no doubt remind the congregation of Dr. McKissick's famous refrain about the power of God. This would likely illicit a jubilant response of recognition from the congregation.

So, here's how that applies to the "whitey" tape rumor:

Imagine if Michelle, or somebody, speaking from the pulpit at Trinity was calling Bush on the carpet and asking questions that began with "Why did he...?" and they asked a series of questions that began with the phrase "Why did he_____?." What if they got into a rhythm asking the questions and asked so many that they became inspired by the McKissick style of worship and then started repeating "Why'd he, Why'd he, Why'd he ,Why'd he, Why'd he. Couldn't this sound a lot like someone saying "Whitey, Whitey, Whitey, Whitey, Whitey?

Oh; so you are still not convinced? Well, don't take my word for it check out this posting from the Booman Tribune, which actually thinks there might be a tape of Michelle saying something like the above. Specific speculation is that Michelle might have said about George Bush:

"Why'd he cut folks off medicaid?
Why'd he let New Orleans drown?
Why'd he do nothing about Jena?
Why'd he put us in Iraq for no reason?"

And then, I am imagining her getting that Rudy McKissick rhythm going and starting to chant:

"Why'd he?
Why'd he?
Why'd he?
Why'd he?
Why'd he"?

I can totally see that happening. It happens all the time as speakers and preachers "sample" each others work often. And, this would be totally in context in Trinity United Church of Christ.
